#7b - Performance, solo piano

Theresa got in touch asking for a performance without the backing track. I'm so pleased she did: this is, after all, how the piece was intended.

This isn't simply lesson #7 without the backing track. Without the metronomic tempo imposed by the kit and bass, I'm now free to play more expressively. I think Blue Interlude does need quite a strict tempo, ending apart, but I can now broaden or push-on the tempo, and take breathes where the music demands. Playing with a bass player I may have underplayed the lh, but now I shall be more inclined to make something of the bass.

Finally it's reminded me of the pleasure of playing through 'old' pieces. The learning is done. Not unlike meeting an old friend: a real joy.
